Welcome to Folsom Dermatology, a comprehensive dermatology practice providing state-of-the-art medical, cosmetic and surgical dermatologic care. Our board certified dermatologists, Dr. Emily Jong and Dr. Patti Satterfield, offer a wide range of services and professional expertise that incorporates the latest clinical knowledge and treatments for pediatric and adult populations.
OUR MISSION
Dr. Jong and Dr. Satterfield, along with their caring staff, strive to deliver the highest standards of individualized care and attention in a comfortable and relaxed office environment. Our providers take the time to talk to each patient and understand their personal concerns in order to develop the best treatment solution possible.
We serve Folsom, the greater Sacramento area, Roseville, Granite Bay, Placerville, Auburn, Lincoln and outlying areas. We accept Medicare, numerous PPO insurances, Hills Phyisician HMO, Western Health Advance and cash/self-pay patients. It is recommended to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to guarantee accepted plans.

MEET OUR FOUNDERS
Patti A. Satterfield, MD
CO-FOUNDER
Dr. Patti Satterfield is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with over 20 years of experience in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.
A California native and co-founder of Folsom Dermatology, Dr. Satterfield attended California State University, Long Beach, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Physiology. Dr. Satterfield moved to Northern California to attend The University of California, Davis School of Medicine where she earned her medical degree. She remained at UC Davis for both her internship and her dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident in her final year of training.
Prior to opening Folsom Dermatology in 2012 with long time friend and colleague from medical school, Dr. Emily Jong, Dr. Satterfield practiced as a Senior Partner in Kaiser Permanente’s Department of Dermatology in Roseville, California.
Dedicated to providing the best patient care possible, she contributed to Kaiser Permanente’s formal Quality Assurance efforts for more than nine years, including four years as Quality Assurance Chairperson for the Department of Dermatology and five years as a member of the Quality Assurance Multidisciplinary Committee for Outpatient Medicine.
Dr. Satterfield is a Diplomate of The American Board or Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of The American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Satterfield takes great satisfaction in partnering with her patients to make decisions and develop treatment plans that keep them healthy but also fit in with their lifestyles. Dr. Satterfield loves medical and surgical dermatology but she also enjoys working with patients interested in aging gracefully. Incorporating skin care regimens and cosmetic treatments that allow patients to maintain a natural but more youthful, health appearance is always her goal. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer is a primary focus of Dr. Satterfield.
Dr. Satterfield resides in El Dorado Hills with her husband and three children. In addition to spending time with family and friends she enjoys Barre class, cooking and relaxing in Hawaii.
Emily Z. Jong, MD
CO-FOUNDER
Folsom Dermatology co-founder Dr. Emily Jong brings over 17 years of experience in medical and surgical dermatology to the practice.
Dr. Jong earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She completed her internship at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, followed by residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. During her residency, Dr. Jong also participated in an ASDS Dermatologic Surgery Preceptorship through the University of California, Los Angeles.
Born in Missouri and raised in Oregon, Dr. Jong moved to California to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned an undergraduate degree in Microbiology.
Prior to founding Folsom Dermatology, Dr. Jong practiced as Senior Partner in Dermatology at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, California. There she served five years as Chief and Assistant Chief of the Department of Dermatology. Her tenure at Kaiser Permanente also provided the opportunity to work closely with her Folsom Dermatology co-founder, Dr. Patti Satterfield, for nine years. Dr. Jong has expertise in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Jong is pleased to serve a wide range of patients from children to adults and seniors. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters in Granite Bay, as well as fitness activities.

Eli Costea
LICENSED AESTHETICIAN
Eli Costea is a licensed Aesthetician with over 13 years of experience working with various techniques to improve and maintain healthy skin. Eli has the experience and ambition, as well as the desire to help educate patients in treating all skin types, including aging, hyperpigmentated and acneic skin with customized modalities to treat the problem area. Achieving patient’s goals and boosting confidence is one of her many qualities.
When not working, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children. Traveling, snowboarding and cooking are some of Eli’s other interests.

Robert Burns, MD, FACMS
Mohs Surgeon
Dr. Robert Burns is a board-certified Mohs surgeon with over 25 years of experience specializing in skin cancer treatments. He is well-known throughout the Sacramento area for his expertise, approachable nature, and dedication to patient care. Over the course of his career, Dr. Burns has successfully treated thousands of patients with skin cancer. Before joining our practice, Dr. Burns held the role of Chief and Laboratory Director for the Mohs Surgery Department at Kaiser Permanente, overseeing advanced dermatologic surgical services. Dr. Burns has been honored several times in Sacramento Magazine’s “Top Doctors” list, recognizing his excellence in Mohs surgery and dedication to patient care. His calm, easygoing demeanor and attention to detail allow him to deliver both excellent medical outcomes and natural, refined results for his patients.
